About Albany 2030
Albany 2030: Your City, Your Future is a process to create the City's first Comprehensive Plan. The Albany Comprehensive Plan will include the City's collective vision for the future, as well as maps, policies, and guidelines that describe how to achieve that vision (See FAQs: "What is a Comprehensive Plan" for more info). The City has many completed and ongoing planning initiatives, including neighborhood revitalization plans, redevelopment programs, economic development plans, housing initiatives and studies, and recreation and greenway plans.
Many City residents have been extensively involved in these previous planning efforts. Part of the Albany 2030: Your City, Your Future process is to build on this momentum and create a cohesive vision for a sustainable future for the entire City. We are asking participants to envision the future: What do you want Albany be like in 2030? The 2030 timeframe helps to set long range goals and to encourage participants to think creatively about the City's future.
Albany 2030: Your City, Your Future is a consensus-building process that includes innovative and equitable approaches to guide (re)development and (re)investment in a manner that meets the needs of residents and businesses while maintaining the desired character, quality of life, and environmental and fiscal health of the City. If you have been involved in previous plans, Albany 2030 still needs your valuable experience and input. If you have not, now is the time to lend your voice and vision to help create a plan for the future of Albany--Your City, Your Future.
