Albany 2030 Kickoff Community Forums

Thursday ForumIn January 2010, Albany 2030 launched its public engagement process by holding Community Forums in three locations around the City. These forums included an introduction to the Albany 2030 process, and small group discussions on three topics: Albany's current strengths, Albany's current challenges, and participants' visions for the future of Albany in 2030. These forums helped the Albany 2030 team understand Albany today, and shape a vision for Albany's future.

The strengths, challenges, and vision elements were often similar among the three sessions, but unique viewpoints were also heard and new ideas captured (the full results are below).

Three forums were held:

  • Thursday, January 28th, 6:30-9:30 PM, at Albany High School (over 180 participants)
  • Friday, January 29th, 9:00 AM-Noon, at the North Albany YMCA (over 90 participants, including about 15 middle school students)
  • Saturday, January 30th, 1:00-4:00, at Hackett Middle School (over 100 participants)
